| Beach 01/06/2012 Thursday evening saw us take a wind-swept evening stroll along Le Touquet beach. We enjoyed the scenery and walked off our long coach trip. Luckily, the sun was shining on us on Friday, and so we returned to the beach for cricket, football and many other fun activities; including creating a human pyramid! | |||
| Nausica 01/06/2012 On Friday we visited ‘Nausicaa’ Sea Life Centre. Here we marvelled at the weird and wonderful sea creatures which filled their exhibits. Particular highlights were the performing sea lions, the leopard sharks, the giant eels and the hands on tank- This was a fish tank with a difference; we were able to touch the sea life! We discovered that sting rays are rough to the touch and thought the fish were really slimy! | |||

| Christingle service at St. Margaret's 09/12/2011 The evening of Friday 9th December saw the Prep department Christingle service at St. Margaret's Church. The evening began with a performance from the Senior Orchestra. The order of service then went on to include traditional, contemporary and French carols, a performance from the senior choir, readings from children in year 6 and the lighting of the Christingles. A sense of wonder enveloped the church as the lights were turned off and the congregation were bathed in the glow of light from the candles. The evening once again proved to be a highlight of the school year. Thanks go to all staff, parents and children who have worked extremely hard to organise the events. | |||
| Crib Service 07/12/2011 The Pre-Prep department performed their annual Crib Service. This year, the performance explored the theme of Christianity around the world. The children spoke and sang beautifully and the service was enjoyed by all. The children looked wonderful in their costumes and certainly spread Christmas cheer to all those who watched. Thanks go to all staff, parents and children who have worked extremely hard to organise the events. | |||
| Candle-lit Nativity 04/12/2011 Members of the St Michael’s School community gathered into the chapel playground to watch a selection of children from the Prep department perform in this year’s ‘Candle-lit Nativity’. Festive music was played by past and present students of St. Michael’s, whilst pupils, parents and staff watched the Nativity story acted out under candle light. It proved to be a wonderful evening. Thanks go to all staff, parents and children who have worked extremely hard to organise the events. | |||
| Operation Christmas Child A Huge Success! 01/12/2011 The parents, children and staff of St. Michael’s School have once again been busy creating Christmas shoe boxes to donate to Operation Christmas Child. This year, over 200 boxes were donated; more than doubling our target. These boxes, each full of small gifts, will be distributed to disadvantaged children in Eastern Europe. It is emotionally satisfying to know that the generosity of those who donated boxes will bring Christmas cheer to those less fortunate. Special thanks go to Mrs Kipps, Mrs Tompkins and 4O for their hard work in organising the project. | |||

| Hats on for the Royal Wedding 29/04/2011 Hats were the order of the day for Royal Wedding celebrations at St. Michaels C of E Prep School, Leigh. The celebration day, on the eve of the Royal Wedding, was the culmination of the childrens preparations making the most of the short week at school following the Easter break. The schools dining room was transformed into The Mall with the childrens colourful depictions of the wedding scenes in London, Union Jacks and red, white and blue bunting. Dodging an odd shower, the dining room was the location for an afternoon street party for the very youngest children in the Nursery and Reception classes. Jam sandwiches, ring shaped snacks and William and Kate fairy cakes went down a treat with the excited youngsters wearing their own crowns for the occasion. Not to be outdone by the children, the schools staff wore their finest wedding outfits for the day, including elaborative hats and fascinators, ever hopeful of a last minute invitation to Westminster Abbey. Head teacher, Mr Stephen Tompkins, said, The children have had a wonderful time in preparation for the big day. It is the childrens first experience of a major Royal Wedding and the learning activities they have undertaken have helped them to understand the significance of the Royal Wedding for Prince William and Kate Middleton as well as for our country. I am sure that they will look back with fondness in years to come as they remember how they celebrated this very special Royal Wedding. | |||
| Year 2s Victorian Experience 22/03/2011 On Tuesday 22nd March, Year 2 visited Kent-Life in Maidstone for a Victorian Day. Everyone really entered into the spirit and dressed up as Victorians for the occasion! The children had a fantastic day and were transported back in time whilst meeting various Victorian trades people. They were inspected for potential workhouse posts, met a cook and learned about various foods of the time. They watched a blacksmith at work and had the opportunity to invest in railways with Sir Samuel Morton. The children discovered the horrors of Victorian hospitals and most importantly learned how to behave in a Victorian Schoolroom with Mr Branch! Mr Webb and Miss Peace also picked up a few handy tips from him too (watch out Year 2!). It was a memorable experience for all involved and greatly enhanced the studies undertaken this term on Victorians. The children are still talking about it despite Mr Branch’s insistence that “Children should be seen and not heard! | |||
| Year 6 perform at the O2 Arena 20/03/2011 Year 6 children swapped their class room for the O2 Arena on Wednesday, 12th January as they joined up and coming professional young music and dance artists in an unforgettable experience at one of the country's most prestigious concert venues. Lessons were cancelled for the day for all Year 6 children as they took their place in the O2 as part of a massed choir of eight thousand school children from around the country performing to an audience of 20,00 people in one of this year's Young Voices concerts. Under the direction of internationally acclaimed conductor, David Lawrence, the concert featured a mix of well-known popular songs, soul music and a Michael Jackson tribute as well as performances from professional artists Dionne Bromfield, All Angels and dance sensation Urban Strides. Young Voices is the largest children's choir organiser in the world and introduces children to a wide variety of music and performance opportunities. Over one million school children have been inspired and encouraged to participate in music and singing performances across the UK in the past 14 years One aim of Young Voices is to build children's confidence through bringing together children from across the country under one roof, for one day to share the experience of singing. One of the children summed up the experience 'It's the best concert ever!'" | |||
