1895 Community of St. Michael and All Angels founded in Hammersmith with four Sisters under the leadership of Mother Ellen.

1922 Mother Lucy O.S.M.A.A. who was then Head of the Community bought 198 Hadleigh Road, which at the time was a school called Leigh Park College. The new school was opened with 12 day pupils and 7 boarders and was named St. Michael's.

1932 Pupils numbered 120 of whom 36 were boarders.

1935 Pupils increased to 170 of whom 57 were boarders.

1939 With the outbreak of War fewer than 50 pupils remained, the others having been evacuated.

1940 The school was closed but continued with a few boarders in North London.

1942 The school in Leigh was reopened with 20 pupils.

1946 The Order of the Holy Paraclete took charge of the school, at the request of Mother Lucy O.S.M.A.A. who died later in the same year.

1947 In view of the probable changes in the Education System of the Country resulting in the 1944 Bill, the Education Department in Southend was consulted as to the advisability of continuing St. Michael's as a Day and Boarding School, with pupils up to the age of 18 years, and as to what type of school would best serve the District. On the advice of the local Education Department, the Governing Body (Chapter of O.H.P.) decided to continue the school as a Day Preparatory School.

1947-72 The School continued to grow and flourish.

1972 The Order of the Holy Paraclete withdrew, handing over the school to the Diocese of Chelmsford. Miss Mary Warren became the first secular Headmistress.

1977 Miss Warren retired due to health reasons. Miss Katherine Sladden was appointed as Headmistress.
