Welcome back to the new term and a special welcome to those new children who have joined us this term. The children and staff have been settling back into term these last two days following the Christmas holidays.
This morning’s assemblies focussed on the Christian celebration of Epiphany which is marked today all around the world in different ways. Epiphany, by tradition, celebrates the visit of the wise men to the infant Jesus and their gifts to him of gold, frankincense and myrrh; for Christians it also signifies the revelation of Jesus to the whole world. The word ‘epiphany’ can also be used to refer to a new discovery or a greater level of understanding. I hope that in 2017 the children will have many ‘epiphanies’ as they follow the wise men’s example of resilience and’ through perseverance, will achieve much success with their learning and development.
Next week, the term gets into full swing as all extra-curricular activities recommence and Form 6 head out on their next Outdoor Education Day. Assembly rotas for both Pre-Prep Chapel and Prep Assembly for this term will be published in the next day or two on the school website and on the school app. As ever, please contact the school office if you can not access either of these forms of communication.
With the start of the new calendar year, please advise the school office if there are any changes to your contact details so that we have accurate information.
Also, if you are setting yourself a New Year’s resolution a really good one would be to avoid parking on the double yellow lines or zig-zags (at any time) near school. Now would also be a good time to join our Walk on Wednesday scheme, which begins again on Wednesday, 11th January. This scheme encourages children to have a healthy walk at the start of the school day at least once a week and through their involvement with the scheme they can earn and collect colourful WoW badges. Please contact Mrs Kipps in the office for more information.
A Newsletter will be published next Friday with news and information about forthcoming events.
With best wishes.
Mr S. J. Tompkins
